JOHN "JB" SOdERSTROM
grew up in the Hayward/ San Lorenzo area of the East Bay. John was entrenched in the restaurant industry for years, before realizing that his true passion lay within understanding the greater world of craft beer.
With the mind of "How does it work?" John took a year off and set out across the US to learn as much as he could about craft beer, and what it should actually taste like. When he returned from his cross country adventure, John decided that with the knowledge he gained, he wanted to start brewing himself...which led him to work for Erik Schmid at the Brewmeister....which then led to Red Bus. John is Red Bus' resident Cicerone (Certified Cicerone Level 2 to be exact), and is most likely the friendly face you've seen when shopping at the Brewmeister. He's your go-to guy for any and all random beer knowledge.
What you may not know about John is that he's a huge Closet country music fan: Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr. (the OG's of country music), and is a self-professed comic book nerd: the Green Lantern, Cable from the X-Men Universe, and Star Wars from Dark Horse comics are his favorites.
John describes himself as a seasonal drinker: Spring - gueuzes/saisons...Goose Island's Sofie Farmhouse Ale. Summer - maibocks/helles bocks...Sam Adams' Fresh as Helles. Fall: ESB's...Fullers ESB. Winter - porters/stouts...North Coast's Old Rasputin.
